European Maps

Europe is second smallest continent after Australia and its size is just over 10 million squared km, while population size stands at around 730 million (about 7% of world's land surface and 11% of the world's population). The European border with Asia is mostly the defined by historical events and politics, as the two continents are essentially a part of one large continent called Eurasia.

Today's Europe is home to 50 countries, the most prominent being Germany, France England and Italy. Europe is divided into five main sections: Northern Europe, Western Europe, Central Europe, Southern Europe and Eastern Europe. Because the continent is relatively small, many countries overlap the different regions, making another division more logical: Eastern Europe and Western Europe. The east, in general terms, is considered to be poorer and highly influenced by Russia while the west is considered to be wealthier and tending politically towards the USA.
